Devotional: The Power of His Word

Luke 8:22 One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out.

There was a time when I thought the more you worry or show concern about a situation then it shows that you truly are concerned about the situation. Well, Jesus shows us different when He was sleeping in the boat as the disciples where in a great storm.

Because Jesus was sleeping His disciples thought that Jesus did not care and was unconcerned about their lives. Jesus had just spoke to them earlier and told them that they were going to the other side of the lake. If Jesus says you’re going to the other side then you are going to the other side. No matter how much water hits your face or how big the storm will get, you are going to the other side not because of your power but because of His word that He spoke about going to the other side. What does Jesus say about your situation today? Cast your cares on The Lord because He cares for you.

Devotional: True Strength

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

There was a time when I thought that true strength and courage came from having a strong will power, but true courage and strength comes from the presence of the Lord and knowing that He has your back. The truth is that God has already gone before the situation that stands in front of you today. When the children of Israel were being lead out of Egypt, the Egyptians had more power and might than the Israelites but the Israelites had the Lord that went with them and before them. It is just like a prison guard that has no physical power but has the authority given by the state. That is all that matters.  You may not be strong in many areas of your life but if you have the presence of the Lord, then you can be strong! It is not by force or by strength, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. (Zechariah 4:6 NLT) Be strong and courageous because there is an army in Heaven that has your back today!

Devotional: God gives grace to the humble

When you choose to humble yourself under God and His love, it is the most amazing experience ever. I have learned that true humility always comes with a longing to hear God’s voice and His will for every area of life. When we do not know what direction to take in life, we can always ask the one who does know which is the Lord. He says we have not because we ask not or you ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions (James 4:3). It simply takes asking God to direct you by His Word and humbling yourself to His voice. Pride says I don’t have to ask or hear from God and I can make every decision by myself. It’s like working on a car without collecting the correct information from the manufacturer of the car. I have worked on cars before without gathering information from the owner’s manual and trust me it’s not a pretty sight to see. God wants us to come boldly to Him concerning our lives and not to make one step forward without hearing from the manufacturer which is our Lord and Savior Jesus. Let’s hear from Him today.
